Born in Murcia in 1992 and based in Montpellier, I paint as Calbarracin. My architectural training shapes a practice that brings together expressive figuration, abstraction and pop energy. The Camargue, portraits and the light of the South run through my work. Every original is a unique piece, painted by hand in acrylic.

Five questions to explore my artistic world.
To capture emotions and make them visible. I like creating strong images, sometimes ironic, always human. Painting is my way of speaking.
A sense of composition and balance, as well as a method of working. Even a spontaneous gesture has a structure behind it: that is what gives a painting its strength.
Contemporary, between figurative and abstract. Strong contrasts, intense colour and a free gesture. Portraits, pop culture and the Camargue are recurring threads.
Picasso, above all: Spanish roots, a connection to the South of France, an appetite for work and a curiosity that refuses to be limited to one style.
